A fiery crash involving a tractor trailer and minivan slowed traffic Saturday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike in South Brunswick Township.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A fiery crash involving a tractor trailer and minivan slowed traffic Saturday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike in South Brunswick Township.

The accident occurred around 4:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Interchange 8A.

Police say a FedEx tractor trailer rear-ended the minivan. The truck then jackknifed and caught fire.

Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.

The 48-year-old driver in a Honda Odyssey was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The 32-year-old tractor trailer driver was not hurt.

The right and center lanes were closed for an extended period due to the investigation and cleanup.

So far, there is no word on any charges.
