I-95 South reopens after multi-vehicle crash in Northeast Philadelphia

A multi-vehicle accident has blocked southbound traffic on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.

TACONY (WPVI) -- All lanes have reopened after a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 South approaching Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.

The crash happened before 6 a.m. Tuesday in rainy conditions in the city's Tacony section.

Police tell Action News the crash involved two trucks. Other vehicles appeared to be involved as well.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The crash brought rush hour traffic to a standstill for nearly an hour approaching Cottman Avenue.

By 6:30 a.m. the backup extended back past Woodhaven Road.

For a short time, police were diverting all southbound traffic off of I-95 at Woodhaven Road to ease the congestion.

By 7 a.m. images from Sky 6 traffic cameras showed the vehicles involved in the crash off to the side and all lanes of southbound I-95 traffic moving again.

Motorists were advised to expect continued delays in the area as traffic flow returned to normal.
