Pedestrian critical after being struck by car in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Wilmington, Delaware Friday night.

The accident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on the Washington State bridge on the 1400 block of North Washington Street.

Police say the 29-year-old male victim was wearing dark clothing when he was crossing the roadway in an area not designated as a crosswalk.

The 60-year-old female driver in the striking vehicle immediately stopped.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics then rushed to Christiana Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
