Pedestrian struck on Route 13 in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured on Friday afternoon in New Castle, Delaware.

It happened around 1:11 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 13 (S. DuPont Highway) near Route 40 (Pulaski Highway).

All lanes of both highways were closed during the investigation.

There was no immediate word on the circumstances of this crash.

The name of the pedestrian who was hit has not been released.
