Police van overturns in South Philadelphia crash

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A multi-vehicle accident ended with a police van overturned onto its roof in South Philadelphia Monday morning.

The crash happened just before 11:30 on the 2000 block of S Newkirk Street.

A police source tells Action News that the police van was struck in the rear by another vehicle, which led to the police vehicle rolling over.

The officers inside were not injured, but the were taken to Presbyterian Hospital to be evaluated.

A fire hydrant was reportedly struck as well.

So far, no word on what led up to the collision.
