Route 70 reopens in Cherry Hill, N.J. after power line mishap

A downed power line has shut down Route 70 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- All lanes are back open after a downed power line shut down part of Route 70 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for hours.

The mishap occurred before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Police tell Action News a tree fell on Cooper Landing Road, bringing down a utility pole and an electrical transmission line.

Video from a Sky 6 camera near the scene showed the power line lying across both sides of Route 70.

There were no reports of injuries.

The normally busy highway was shut down in both directions at Haddonfield Road.

Utility crews arrived on the scene and began to make repairs.

As of noon, the westbound side of Route 70 was back open, but the eastbound side remained closed between Grove Street and Cooper Landing Road.

All lanes were finally back open by 2:30 p.m.
