GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Police say a 27-year-old woman was left to die on the side of the road after a hit-and-run crash in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

It happened before midnight Tuesday on Route 30 (White Horse Pike) and 6th Avenue.

Police say Aubrey Servis, of Little Egg Harbor, was walking in a crosswalk near the westbound lanes when she was struck.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver did not stop.

Guests from nearby motel and customers from a nearby gas station rushed out to a horrific sight.

"I was sitting outside of my hotel room and all of a sudden you hear a big bang, like it was a car accident, and I came running over," said Melissa Lauro of Dutchess, New York.

Not much is known about the driver or vehicle. But Galloway Township Police believe it may have been an older model silver SUV, possibly a 90's Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.

Police believe the driver was traveling west in the left lane and ran a red light.

The vehicle should have front driver side damage.
