Police identify woman killed after car hits tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Delaware (WPVI) -- A woman was killed after her car struck the back of a tractor-trailer early Monday morning on Interstate 95 in New Castle, Delaware.

The crash happened around 3:10 a.m. near Route 1.

According to police, 34-year-old Candace Ewald of Newark was traveling northbound when, for an unknown reason, her car drifted out of the lanes and into the right shoulder.

Her Ford Fusion then hit the back of the tractor-trailer, which was stopped on the shoulder.

Ewald was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was not hurt.
