PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPVI) -- Fourteen passengers and three flight attendants suffered minor injuries after a Philadelphia bound flight had to be evacuated.

In a statement to Action News, American Airlines says flight 1822 was taxiing to the runway when it experienced a maintenance issue Thursday afternoon.

The FAA said fluid was leaking from the aircraft.

"Our passengers and crew deplaned on the tarmac using the slides," the American Airlines statement read.

The airline says 14 passengers and three flight attendants sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

"We are working with our passengers to re-accommodate them and we apologize for the inconvenience," American Airlines said.
