SEPTA service suspended after death on tracks in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

BRYN MAWR, Pa. (WPVI) -- SEPTA has suspended inbound service on its Paoli-Thorndale Regional Rail line due a fatality involving an Amtrak train.

The incident happened before 4 p.m. Friday near Bryn Mawr Station.

Amtrak tells Action News a person was struck by one of its eastbound trains and has been pronounced dead at the scene.

The train was not carrying passengers at the time.

There was no immediate word what the person was doing on the tracks. Amtrak police were investigating.

SEPTA was advising its Regional Rail passengers to seek alternate routes by visiting www.septa.org.
