What's the Deal: Money saving air travel tips
What's the Deal: Money saving air travel tips - Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30pm on September 13, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you're about to book a trip, we rounded up some insider tips on scoring the best airfare.

Some of these hacks are pretty clever and might be new to you.

First, it seems airlines often make mistakes - which leaves a wide open window for travelers take advantage of that.

There's a website called SecretFlying.com that scouts out pricing errors or crazy good deals and sends you alerts.

Next, check Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for deals you can only grab on social media. And be sure to follow your main airlines so you don't miss out.

Travelzoo also recommends searching for tickets one at a time, even if you're traveling in a group.

They say airlines often sell some seats for less, but you have to book each seat individually. They say it takes a little time and effort, but can really pay off.

Also, search for two one-way fares, even on different airlines, and try to fly at least one leg of your trip on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday when prices are the lowest.

Two more tips from Motto, a TIME magazine website.

They recommend clearing your web browser's cookies to get the best prices because your history can apparently impede new deals.

Also, where you book your ticket affects the pricing. They say you can fake your location and cash in big time.
