1 dead in motorcycle, truck crash in Upper Merion, victim ID'd

UPPER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- The person who died after a crash involving a truck and a motorcycle in Upper Merion Township has been identified.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. Friday in the area of Gate #4 of the Philadelphia Inquirer facility located at 800 River Road in the Swedeland section.

Police say the motorcyclist crossed over the double yellow lines in the center roadway and crashed head-on into the truck.

The driver of the motorcycle was killed instantly. He has been identified as 50-year-old Eric Kiefer from Conshohocken, Montgomery County.

The driver of the truck, 30-year-old Mohamed Ba of Philadelphia, was flown by helicopter to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with multiple injuries that do not appear to be life threatening.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
