PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Commuters heading out early Thursday morning encountered rain and slick conditions on area roads.
The early precipitation came as part of a larger system expected to bring periods of heavy rain and windy conditions through the day.
Action News reporter Katherine Scott was out monitoring the conditions on major roads, including the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76), I-95 and the Blue Route (I-476).
One trouble spot in the early going was the Vine St. Expressway (I-676) in Center City Philadelphia.
By 7 a.m. police and tow trucks had responded to four separate crashes on the busy highway.
No serious injuries were reported.
Motorists were advised to use caution heading out.
