Plow preparations were in place prior to the snow.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- The road crews in Camden County spent Wednesday getting ready.

Trucks were loading up with salt and maintenance crews were gearing up.

They were putting new blades on plows in the welding shop.

But, for the people running the show, truckloads of salt arriving to replenish dangerously low supplies was the most welcome sight of all.

The county was on the verge of running out just two days ago.

"Barely, but we lucked out. There was a vendor who had salt. We were able to call him and beg and he was able to provide the salt to us," Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard said.

Salt is at a premium right now and many local municipalities are in a bind.

The county will try to help them out, but doesn't have much to spare.

They can hope this will be winter's last hurrah, but they're not counting on it.

"My grandfather was from Arkansas and he used to say winter is never over till May. I'm starting to believe that," Leonard said.
