Snowstorm makes for slippery morning in Bucks Co.

NEWTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- The snow started to fall while many were still sleeping, and it was dicey getting around in many neighborhoods early on, including in Bucks County.

The early morning brought gusting winds, heavy snow and slick roads.

A typically busy state street in Newtown was largely desolate except for a few drivers and this dairy delivery man.

"The roads are horrible right now. It seems like they're not catching up with the plowing. Very slippery," Frank Bahr said.

From inside a coffee shop, folks watched as flakes piled up.

Some ventured out on foot to enjoy this winter's first major snowfall.

"I like my snow. I'm excited for the snow. Finally!" said Maryann Kline.

"It's gorgeous out here!" said Amy Ushko. When asked if she was bothered by the wind, she said, "This isn't wind. I'm Canadian! This is no big deal."

The snow didn't stop Newtown Hardware from opening on time. Tim McCuen cleared the path for anyone needing winter essentials like sleds and shovels.

"Last year during that blizzard we were open. We have to. We're the only hardware store on State Street," he said.

By late morning the storm had moved out, but not before at least one family enjoyed what Mother Nature left behind.

"I usually go to work so it's a snow day for me," said Rachelle Kosoff. "I'm very excited about it because I get to spend the day with my son and doggie and get to enjoy it."
