Storm causes tidal flooding along New Jersey shore

TRENTON, N.J. -- A storm that moved up the coast on Monday morning brought flooding to some New Jersey coastal towns.

Near the intersection of Grammercy Place and Maine in Atlantic City, people watched as waves broke along the wall, spraying vehicles and even the people around it.

Birthday girl Angela Castro couldn't get enough of the natural beauty right out in front of the hotel.

"We've been taking videos of it, I think it's gorgeous being out in it. But driving? No," she said.

Danielle Grant was simply trying to get to work.

"Every street around here in so flooded you need a kayak to get through," she said.

The shore only got a little rain on Monday morning, and the storm stayed far off the coast, but it caused an onshore flow and enough tidal flooding to affect several areas.

On the White Horse Pike in nearby Absecon, police blocked a lane of traffic that was covered in water and debris from the bay.

On the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, crews shut down part of the road after two vehicles needed a tow to get out of the water.

With coastal flood advisories and watches in effect through Tuesday, many are thinking about the damage done just weeks ago, though this next storm will be dramatically minor compared to the last event.
