Strong storms cause flooding, damage across the region
Powerful storms swept across the tristate region Sunday night and early Monday, causing flooding and damage in a number of places.
The Action Cam was on the Black Horse Pike in Blackwood, N.J. Monday morning after a utility pole came down in stormy conditions and caught fire.
Traffic was shut down in the area.
In Ship Bottom, N.J., on Long Beach Island, flood waters shut down Route 72 at Barnegat Avenue.
And flooding was not limited to the Jersey shore.
Action News found flooded areas on Martin Luther King Drive in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park shortly after dawn.
In Camden, a sedan became stranded in high water at Tulip and Master streets before 4:30 a.m. Monday.
Police were posted nearby to keep other motorists from trying to drive through the intersection.
The flooding and damage followed a night of steady downpours that moved west to east across the entire region.
On Sunday evening, three people had to be rescued from a car in Greenville, Delaware.
Officials tell Action News the three became trapped inside the vehicle along Barley Mills Road near Hoops Reservoir.
Firefighters managed to rescue the victims without any injuries.
Earlier in Greenville, flooding struck Route 141 and Barley Mill Road. DelDOT crews could be seen trying to clear the drains as water rose to almost waist-level.
The Action Cam was in Chadds Ford, Delaware County where drivers were making their way along Route 1 and Creek Road.
Meanwhile, Action News viewer Courtney Conigliaro sent in video of flooding in West Chester, Chester County.
In the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia, fans of the band Slayer withstood the heavy rain and a 20 minute delay for the concert.
The weekend was full of severe weather.
Saturday's storm likely led to a large tree falling onto Lincoln Drive in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia.
The weather spawned a waterspout just off the coast of Fortescue, Cumberland County.
The spout was captured on video by Action News viewers Mike and Buck Rothman on board their boat the Bonanza II.
The spout formed around 4 p.m. Sunday on the Delaware Bay.
