In rare move, Waffle House locations close ahead of Hurricane Michael

PANAMA CITY, Florida (WPVI) -- You may remember from coverage of Hurricane Florence, FEMA and other officials look at something called the "Waffle House Index" to see how bad the storm will be.

Well, 18 Waffle House locations decided not to take any chances, closing before Hurricane Michael hit.

The restaurants are usually open 24 hours and are known to stay open, even during natural disasters.
