Police: Teen steals car, leads officers on two-state chase

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- An 18-year-old from Wilmington is in custody after police say he stole a car and led them on a wild chase all the way into Maryland.

It all started just after 2:00 p.m. when the suspect, identified as Joshua McGriff, asked to use a woman's phone in the parking lot of the BJ's in Newark, Delaware.

When she stepped out of her vehicle - he grabbed her keys and took off.

Police pursued McGriff into Elkton, Maryland.

The chase ended when he collided with several other cars.

An elderly woman was injured in the crash.

McGriff was treated, then arrested. He faces a list of charges.
