IRS warns companies about email phishing scam

Saturday, August 26, 2017
The IRS has a warning for companies about a huge increase in email phishing scams that could put their employees in danger.

The agency says scammers will send an email that appears to be from an executive asking payroll or HR departments to send a list of all employees and their W2 forms.

This then puts employees' social security numbers and other vital information in the hands of thieves.

About 200 businesses, schools and other organizations have been victimized.
