Body found near Delaware River in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Multiple police agencies are investigating along the Delaware River after a person was found dead.

It happened around 8 a.m. Thursday near the shoreline off Chestnut Street in New Castle.

A New Castle grounds crew working on cutting high weeds in the area made the discovery.

Police say the body is an unidentified man who appears to be his 20s.

They also say the body was possibly in the water for several weeks.

The body has been turned over to the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Officials are also reaching out to other agencies to check for missing person reports of anyone jumping from an area bridge.
