Thousands take part in Broad Street Run
CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The 2015 Blue Cross Broad Street Run is now in the history books.
For the women's division it was Tigist Jabore who first crossed the finish line Sunday morning.
Haile Mengesha won for the men, coming in at just under 48 minutes.
Tony Nogueira was victorious in the wheelchair division.
"It always feels great. It gets you in second gear when they're screaming at you," Nogueira said of the spectators.
There were some scary moments on the course.
Two runners went into cardiac arrest, one of them at the finish line.
They were revived and rushed to the hospital.
More than 40,000 people registered for this year's 10 miler that starts up in Olney and ends at the Navy Yard.
Runners make their way through a number of different neighborhoods and look to those spectators for an energy boost.
"Temple is really fun because they have the band out there and a lot of people. Then around City Hall really gives you a boost when you're coming around that corner," runner Justin Simard said.
Our very own Adam Joseph was among those running. He was taking pictures and tweeting along the way.
"You get to run through Center City and you get to see the iconic buildings. You get to see people not only from the city, but across the country who come to congregate for this race," Adam said.
After logging all those miles, it's time for the runners to celebrate.
