Teen battling ovarian cancer could be youngest in US
DENVER (WPVI) -- A doctor believes a Colorado teenager is the youngest woman in the U.S. to develop the most common form of ovarian cancer.
16-year-old Peyton Lina-Felter was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer on her 16th birthday.
Her symptoms started with severe back and abdominal pain.
"My stomach started expanding to the point I looked like I was 5 months pregnant," said Peyton.
"She may arguably be the youngest or certainly one of the youngest patients in the United States diagnosed with this disease," said Dr. Saketh Guntupalli.
Peyton has gone through 6-rounds of chemo and a surgery to remove the tumors.
She has more treatment ahead but she is staying positive.
She recently received a phone call of support from the man she is named after - retired football star Peyton Manning.
