MIDDLETOWN TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Officials have identified the man killed in a fire at the Elwyn facility in Middletown Township Wednesday night.
The victim is identified as 63-year-old Williams Myers.
The fire broke out at the assisted living facility around 9:20 p.m. along the 100 block of Elwyn Road.
Firefighters arrived to find employees and state troopers evacuating the building's 39 residents.
"The Elwyn folks did a phenomenal job getting everyone out of the building," said Chief Chip Willie of the Middletown Township Fire Company.
It took about an hour to put the fire out. The fire was contained to one room in Smith Hall where a person was trapped.
Myers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith Hall houses special needs patients over the age of 60.
While fire marshals say they are still looking for the cause of the blaze, Elwyn officials and local firefighters say the signs point to a possible electrical problem.
About 225 residents live on the Elwyn campus.
