TALLADEGA, Ala. (WPVI) -- An 11-year-old boy shot a man who broke into his home on Wednesday.
Chris Gaither says he was home alone in Talladega, Alabama when he heard the intruder come inside.
He says the suspect stole a clothing hamper and ran towards the front door.
That's when Chris grabbed his parents nine-millimeter handgun and met the man downstairs.
Chris says the burglar threatened him before walking outside with a clothes hamper in hand.
"I shot through the hamper he was carrying. It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby," said Chris.
Police expect to file charges against the burglar once he is treated at the hospital.
