WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Two people are feared dead after the car they were in crashed in Wilmington, Delaware.
Police responded around 10:52 p.m. Wednesday to a vehicle fire along the 900 block of New Castle Avenue.
The driver of the car, believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a telephone pole, police say.
Upon impact, police say the car bursts into flames trapping both occupants.
The crash downed several utility poles, police say, causing power outages in a large area of the Southbridge section of Wilmington.
Roads in the immediate area are expected to be closed for several hours as officials conduct an investigation.
