3 adults, 2 children left homeless in Fern Rock fire

FERN ROCK (WPVI) -- Five people have been left homeless after a fast moving fire in the Fern Rock section of Philadelphia.

Firefighters were called out to the 5800 block of North 7th Street around 2:17 a.m. Sunday after receiving several calls for a house on fire.

Arriving firefighters were met with flames coming from the first and second floor and quickly went to work battling the fire.

Crews got the upper hand on the fire around 2:45 a.m. but remained on the scene putting out hot spots.

Fire officials tell Action News that a 2-year-old, a 15-year-old, and three adults were taken by medics to Einstein Medical Center to be checked for smoke inhalation.

They are in stable condition.

So far there is no word on what sparked the fire.
