SANTA ANA, Calif. (WPVI) -- The Santa Ana Police Department is looking for more victims in a sexual assault case involving children.
Police said a dental assistant at OC Kids Dental Care allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl in 2013 and a 6-year-old girl in 2014. One of the victims just recently told her parents.
"The parents had a conversation with their child; this incident came out. They did the right thing; they brought the child to the police department," said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna with the Santa Ana Police Department.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Tommy Medina. Medina allegedly took the victims into a private room at the office where he assaulted them.
It comes as a shock to Alma Cabrera, who has brought her daughter here for four years. She said she doesn't know what to say because she's trusted these people all this time. She also said she's always uncomfortable because the staff never allows her to go with her daughter to the examination room.
"This afforded the suspect the opportunity to be alone with these children and allow this to occur," said Bertagna.
Medina is being held on $1 million bail. Police are asking parents to help them identify other possible victims.
"We encourage you to have a conversation with your small children, if they've been acting suspicious or they're not comfortable going back to the dentist," said Bertagna.
If you have any information about additional victims, you're asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
