DA: North Penn grad shared explicit pics of classmates

TOWAMENCIN TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- A graduate of North Penn High School in Montgomery County has been charged with allegedly sharing sexually explicit photos of underage female classmates.

Brandon Berlin, 18, of Montgomery Township, is accused of collecting the photos in the file-sharing service Dropbox, then sending the link out for others to see.

Investigators say the file in that Dropbox account was called "I prolly had ur pics," which was also his yearbook quote.

"It's not something funny," former student Kahlil Lewis told Action News. "And now he's sitting in jail, and I wonder if he thinks that's funny,"

The Montgomery County D.A.'s office said the investigation began back in March, when a girl said she uncovered the photo collection. She also reported many of the girls were under 18.

Investigators said while some of the photos were received by others before they were given to Berlin, he "took the extraordinary step of compiling the photographs he collected from various sources on his Dropbox account."

Police said Berlin admitted to creating the Dropbox account, gathering the photos, and sending out the link.

Authorities say at the time the website was created, Berlin was a senior at North Penn.

"It's messed up, he shouldn't have done it, I can't even imagine how the girls feel," former classmate Shane Reed said.

"You can't be putting people's lives out there like that, that's too much, I mean he deserves what he's going to get," former student Tom Martin said.

Action News caught up with Berlin's lawyer, Matthew Quigg, Wednesday night.

"Overall, he really just never intended to hurt anybody," Quigg said.

Berlin was arraigned with bail set at $10,000 unsecured. He was ordered to have no contact with victims or witnesses in this case.
