Elevator fire forces evacuation in Center City

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A fire in an elevator forced the evacuation of a Center City condominium building.

It happened at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters were called to the Locust Point condos at 24th and Locust Streets.

They evacuated the residents as they battled the fire.

The situation was declared under control within half an hour and residents were allowed back in the building.

There were no reports of injuries.
