Several sickened after strong odor on Villanova campus

Firefighters respond to hazmat situation on Villanova Univ. campus

BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- An investigation continues into what caused a mysterious odor to fill a building on Villanova University's campus.



The incident happened around 9 a.m. Friday on the 800 block of East Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr.

But after a sweep of the building, police say the odor has disappeared.



Medics arrived on the scene after faculty and students began to experience nausea and dizziness.



One female was taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital to be be evaluated as a precaution.



Firefighters checked the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.



Equipment was also brought in to measure the air quality, which turned out to be okay.



The school issued a statement: "As always the safety and well-being of our students is our utmost concern, and Villanova will continue to monitor the situation."
