EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- State police investigators say officers were justified in the fatal shooting of a man who they say was threatening customers at a northeastern Pennsylvania Walmart.
Authorities made the announcement Monday after investigating the shooting and after talking with the Monroe County district attorney's office. Twenty-year-old Andrew Joseph Todd was shot and killed Saturday night in the East Stroudsburg store after police say he refused officers' orders to drop a weapon.
Police say about 100 people were in the store when Todd began threatening customers. Investigators say the Mount Bethel man was armed with two guns and a machete. Officers say Todd then pointed a gun at officers, who shot him in the chest. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
No customers or officers were hurt.
