Man injured in car accident, fire on I-95 in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man was injured in an accident and a car fire on Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia.

Chopper 6 was over the scene shortly before 11 p.m. Friday on I-95 northbound, just south of Broad Street.

There, a car crashed into the center lane concrete divider, then ignited, police say.

One person, described as a 24-year-old man, was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital with burns to his upper and lower body.

The accident, which remains under investigation, snarled traffic in the area.
