HAMILTON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has identified a body discovered in a park in Hamilton Township.
The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Jessica Prusik of Hamilton.
"She was a good person and she didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve this at all, she didn't," friend Mary Hernandez told Action News.
Hernandez was best friends with Prusik and known her since middle school.
Hernandez says Prusik is a wife and mother who has two biological children and five stepchildren.
"She was a good person, she was a good mom, she was a good friend, she was a good wife," Hernandez said.
An autopsy has determined that the cause of death is homicide, but investigators are not releasing the manner of death.
Police say someone out walking at Roebling Park just after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday found the body in the weeds along the walking trail.
Hernandez tied a note and a bunch of lilies to a piling at the park in honor of her friend. She says lilies were Prusik's favorite flower.
Neighbors say Prusik and her family moved into a house on Hollywood Avenue about a month ago. No one at the house would comment today.
"I feel so bad about it. I'm almost in tears to hear, this is my neighborhood and I love my neighborhood," neighbor Mary Foster said.
While police search for the killer, Hernandez is remembering her friend as the rock of her family, who took care of her husband Ronny Martinez as he battled cancer.
"I wish I knew what happened to her. I wish I knew something," Hernandez said.
Detectives are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact police.
