WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The window of a Philadelphia School District bus shattered after being pelted with rocks and construction debris.
The broken glass hit 20-year-old special needs student Courtney Clancy right in the face.
"The bus attendant called me on the phone and told me a boy threw a brick through the window and hurt my daughter," the victim's mother Gina Clancy said.
The victim's emotional mother wanted people to see her daughter's facial and eye injuries.
Police say as Courtney's bus approached 47th and Aspen Streets around 4:30 p.m. Monday, at least two juveniles ran over from a nearby rec center and started throwing rocks.
A total of 9 special needs students from the School of the Future were on the bus with two assistants along with the driver.
"He said he was just driving down the street and hears the bricks hitting the vehicle and then he hears the people screaming so he stops the bus immediately, does the right thing, alerts the police and we take the kid to the hospital," Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said.
Southwest Detectives were on the scene and quickly discovered the incident was captured on a city camera.
Courtney who is from South Philadelphia was released from Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where doctors flushed broken glass out of her eyes.
She was still in pain when we spoke with her. So was her mother.
"Kids are really rude today, they don't care what they do, but I want this boy prosecuted, I really do," Gina Clancy said.
