WILMINGTON, Delaware -- A Secret Service officer charged with trying to solicit a 14-year-old girl for sex has waived a preliminary hearing in federal court in Delaware.
Appearing before a magistrate Thursday, Lee Robert Moore waived the right to hearing to determine probable cause on a federal charge of trying to transfer obscene material to a minor.
The judge meanwhile granted a defense request to postpone a hearing on the government's motion that Moore be held in custody until his trial.
The defense plans to submit a report by Nov. 30 to justify its request that Moore be released into the custody of his wife and parents at his Maryland home.
Moore surrendered to authorities Nov. 9 after officials say he was caught in an undercover online sex sting by Delaware State Police.
