WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police have released new surveillance pictures of three smash-and-grab robbers who staged a brazen robbery last night at a jewelry store at the Willow Grove Park Mall.
The robbery took place at 7:20 p.m. Monday.
Police say three men in hoodies walked into Precision Watches & Jewelry and announced a robbery.
"We heard two loud noises. Someone screamed 'everybody get down,'" said Will Murphy, who was working at a nearby store.
Investigators say the men then used small sledge hammers to smash several display cases. They specifically targeted the Rolex case.
While reaching into the case, at least one of the suspects cut himself. The bandits got away with several watches.
Police confirmed that the store owner fired two shots into the ceiling, fearing for the safety of his employees and himself.
He was licensed to carry the gun, and police say after he fired the shots all three suspects ran out of the store.
They then ran into the Bloomingdale's store at ground level and ran out to the parking lot, where a Chrysler minivan had been circling the lot.
They jumped into the minivan, which sped off.
Shoppers leaving the mall could not believe what happened.
"Quite shocking because this doesn't happen much in this area," Dave Reif of Lower Moreland said.
Police are still working to determine if the getaway vehicle was stolen.
