WEST KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- A person inside a minivan opened fire on a West Kensington street Monday night injuring three people, Philadelphia police say.
It happened around 6:10 p.m. along the 2800 block of Boudinot Street.
Children were playing outside when police say a minivan drove up the street and a person armed with a gun emerged from the sunroof.
"Witnesses say one of the shooters was in a gold minivan and the shooter was actually standing up with his upper body coming out of the sunroof. He was firing an assault rifle," Philadelphia Police Inspector Scott Small said.
Philadelphia police say it appears two weapons were used in the drive-by shooting.
"Based on ballistics evidence we know at least nine shots fired from two separate semiautomatic weapons," Small said.
Detectives say the shooters were aiming at one house, but missed.
Instead, the shooters hit Susalyn Marreor's house. She was upstairs with her youngest children.
"I told my little ones to duck down on the floor," Marreor said.
Police say three innocent people were shot.
A 33-year-old man was hit in the leg, while Marreor's 25-year-old son was shot in the foot and her 22-year-old cousin was struck multiple times in the stomach.
"It looked bad, her stomach, she was holding onto it, she had a hole in her stomach," Marreor said. "It was scary, this is crazy, I just moved in a couple of months," Marreor said said.
