PORT RICHMOND (WPVI) -- Police say two gunmen opened fire on a Port Richmond street, leaving behind a trail of bullets and a 13-year-old critically wounded.
The family of the victim is still concerned for her safety and only want us to use her first name Diamond.
They say she's a fighter. Her aunt tells Action News that after surgery Saturday, she was responsive but still in critical condition.
Now they want the gunmen who shot her behind bars.
"Somebody here knows something," said Ada Ortiz, aunt.
The shooting happened around 11:35 Friday night on the 3500 block of Stouton Street.
Residents who were outside on the warm night describe two men running down the entire block firing away.
"I saw the guys running, I didn't see their faces but I know they ran. They ran like there's no tomorrow," said Esperanza Baerga.
Diamond was sitting on the steps with two males, ages 12 and 14.
She was struck at least once in the abdomen and ran to her home on the block.
Diamond was rushed to Temple Hospital where she underwent surgery. Her aunt says a bullet caused major damage to vital organs.
Police found more than a dozen shell casings within the block.
Bullets went through the second floor bedroom window and riddled at least three vehicles.
On Saturday, East Detectives returned to question neighbors, look for video and town away the damaged vehicles as potential evidence.
Long-time neighbors adore little Diamond.
"She plays with the little kids on the block. She's a joyful person - she comes and gives everyone hugs," said Destiney Ocasio, neighbor.
Diamond's family had a message for anyone with information.
"At the end of the day, it's not about me being a rat, being a snitch - it's not about that. It's about being a hero because, at the end of the day, it's not a grown adult - it was a kid," said Ortiz.
There is a vague description of the suspects but anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police.
