Tractor trailer crash causes fire on I-76 WB

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A tractor trailer and a car caught fire after the two vehicles collided on I-76 westbound late Sunday night.

It happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. on I-76 westbound near Girard Avenue.

A driver of a car rear-ended the tractor trailer causing the two vehicles to catch fire, police said. The driver of the car fled the scene.

A driver traveling eastbound on the Schuylkill was injured when she was rear-ended after she stopped to look at the fire.

She was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

Lanes were closed overnight , but all lanes on the expressway have since reopened.
