EAST MT. AIRY (WPVI) -- The Trolley Car Diner in Philadelphia's East Mt. Airy section is at the center of vicious attacks and even threats on social media after an alleged assault on a Trump supporter.

"It's been very upsetting, my wife is beside herself thinking that someone is going to find out where we live. It's been harassment in the worst way," said Ken Weinstein, owner.

A woman, who asked to remain anonymous, says she went to the diner for breakfast the day after election night wearing Trump attire.

"I was chatting on the phone with a friend, and a waitress started staring at me and giving me really dirty looks, and then she started yelling at me, 'I was disgusting, get out, I'm so ignorant,'" the woman said.

The owner admits his employee did say something along those lines.

"She should not have said that," said Weinstein.

But this is where the two sides disagree. The woman says she returned to the diner Wednesday morning without any Trump gear. There was no camera where the incident allegedly happened.

"I get up from the table and she's standing in the hallway, and she backs into me and then like checks me," the woman said.

"Nothing could be farther from the truth," said Weinstein.

The victim told a friend, a special projects director with Citizens for Trump, who then shared the incident on Twitter to its 60,000 followers.

It's been retweeted thousands of times, with many sharing the diner's phone number.

Weinstein says he was forced to shut down his business' Facebook page and disconnect the phone.

But, he refuses to let go of his longtime employee.

"I think that's overkill. The server did absolutely nothing wrong today," said Weinstein.

And though the victim doesn't want the waitress to be let go either, she's upset the truth isn't being told.

"I think this is really sad, and I'm disappointed that she would lie about that. That's unfortunate," the woman said.

The owner insists the employee accidentally bumped into the woman on Wednesday. He does say he has disciplined her for what she said previously.
