POTTSTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A suburban Philadelphia mother accused of having sex with a 17-year-old soccer player has been placed on five years' probation after pleading guilty to charges in the case.
42-year-old Iris Gibney of Pottstown told a Montgomery County judge on Tuesday that she made a "horrible decision."
She said she has been in therapy since she was arrested in November. Police said she was found having sex with the youth in a car at a closed Pottstown park.
Authorities said she met the teenager at a high school football game while volunteering with her daughter's cheerleading squad.
Gibney pleaded guilty to corruption of a minor and disseminating explicit material.
Defense attorney Fortunato Perri Jr. said his client was "extremely remorseful" and the case has had "a devastating effect" on her family.
