Officials say a house fire claimed the life of a woman in New Castle County, Delaware early Saturday morning.
The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. on the 400 block of Cedar Avenue in Belvedere.
Flames quickly consumed the single story home.
An elderly man was able to escape with minor burns to his body and he refused treatment.
Firefighters brought a woman from the burning home but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say an autopsy will be done to determine how the victim died.
It took crews about thirty minutes to get the blaze under control.
The heavy fire damage was estimated at $50,000.
The Red Cross arrived to the scene to help the displaced family.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
