FYI Philly: Dickinson Narrows gets national acclaim

Philadelphia is getting national acclaim as the rest of the country learns about our great shopping, dining and city life.

Dickinson Narrows, also referred as Dickinson Square West, is a sliver of South Philadelphia bordered by Washington Avenue to the north and Mifflin Street to the south.

And, right between 4th and 6th Streets, you'll find the 16-block sweet spot Redfin.com ranked as the second hottest neighborhood in the nation.

"It is exactly as it sounds, a narrow portion of South Philly nestled between Passyunk Square and Pennsport," said real estate agent Blakely Minton.

Redfin.com combined their agents' insight with page views and favorited homes on their website - across 10,000 areas - to come up with their top 10 list.

"You get a comfortable living space for an affordable price and still have the convenience," said Minton.

There are five different parks that bring open space to this slender city place.

"Dickinson Narrows has this nice little nestled feel between these parks and its really residential."

The neighborhood is blocks from the booming restaurant scene along East Passyunk Avenue.

"You do have access to bars and restaurants, but they're not in your backyard," said Minton.
