PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was quite a day for the pope in Philadelphia.
Sunday began with a note of gravity, as Pope Francis tackled the thorny issue of clergy sex abuse in a morning meeting with victims.
Francis then brought a message of humanity and forgiveness to inmates at Philadelphia's Curran-Fromhold Prison.
After a surprise visit to Saint Joseph's University, it was once again onto the Ben Franklin Parkway, for another jubilant parade among the people where baby after baby was handed to the Holy Father, each blessed with a kiss.
At 4:00 p.m., thousands upon thousands of pilgrims stood shoulder to shoulder in respectful silence as Mass began.
As Pope Francis bid farewell to the city of Philadelphia, he issued a familiar request: Pray for me.
