Stars of the local stage honored at Merriam Theater

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's version of the Tony Awards took place Monday night.

Theatre Philadelphia hosted the Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre.

Hundreds of people packed into the Merriam Theatre to applaud the extraordinary artists.

The program also seeks to promote Philadelphia's vibrant theatre scene.
