The mark of excellence

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A new state historic marker in Society Hill has been dedicated to Philadelphia-born composer Marc Blitzstein.

The marker now sits on the 400 block of Pine Street.

During a dedication ceremony for the marker, there were performances from Blitzstein's 1937 musical The Cradle Will Rock.

Monday night a reading of a play that chronicles the production of Blitztein's controversial musical will be put on at the National Museum of American Jewish History.
