The Philadelphia 76ers have sent forwardNerlens Noel to their D-League affiliate on an injury rehab assignment.

Noel was scheduled to practice Wednesday with the Delaware 87ers, who are owned and operated by the Sixers, as part of his recovery from an October arthroscopic knee surgery.

Noel's stint with Delaware, sources said, is purely for rehab purposes and won't involve any game action, similar to what the Sixers did recently with veteran guard Jerryd Bayless.

On Monday, Noel told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he's likely "a couple of weeks" away from returning to the Sixers' active roster.

"I think I'm in a good place right now to start building back up into game shape," Noel told the newspaper.
