The Chicago Blackhawks signed coach Joel Quenneville to a three-year extension through the 2019-20 season, the team announced Tuesday.
Quenneville, who has led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships, has a 343-168-69 record during his tenure in Chicago, which is now in its eighth season.
He needs just one win to tie Al Arbour as the second-winningest coach in NHL history with 782 career victories. Quenneville has a 781-451-77-110 record in his 19 seasons, which also includes stints with the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.
The Blackhawks are currently second in the Central Divison, just four points behind the Dallas Stars.
