PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was held out of practice Saturday, two days after taking a shot in the ribs in the team's preseason game against Tampa Bay.
Wentz warmed up but did not take part in seven-on-seven or full-squad drills.
"I think it was the next-to-the-last play of the game," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said. "He got hit pretty hard on the right side, stayed down on the ground for a while. (He's) just sore. Bothered him to throw a little bit. He's fine. He'll get treatment on it and he'll be back out tomorrow."
The Eagles have a practice scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday. The practice will be held at Lincoln Financial Field and is open to fans.
Several Eagles who missed Thursday's game with injuries returned to practice Saturday. A few of them took only limited reps before going back inside for treatment.
Left tackle Jason Peters (quadriceps) was active for most of the practice. He was held out of the last few periods.
Safety Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring), defensive end Marcus Smith (concussion) and rookie running back Wendell Smallwood (quadriceps) returned to the field. They took part in warmups and individual drills, but did not participate in team drills.
"The plan for all those guys was warm up individually, a little group install, and then get them off the field," Pederson said. "Get them back in the training room."
Right guard Brandon Brooks, who left Thursday's game with a biceps injury, also took part in individual drills before leaving the field.
"He's fine," Pederson said. "He'll be able to play. Again, just making sure everything's good and the arm is strong."
